Seela Misra is a self-taught painter based in Central Texas whose work explores grief, faith, and cultural identity through acrylic portraiture. Her recent series focuses on South Asian women rendered in menswear-inspired dress, inviting viewers into a quiet, emotional space where sorrow is honored as sacred. Drawing from a lifelong creative practice that spans music, ceramics, and animation, Misra brings an intuitive sense of rhythm and stillness to each piece. Her work has appeared in private collections, on album covers, and in public spaces, and she is currently preparing for her first in-person solo exhibition.
